Cakes in a Jar, Baked With Love: The Comeback Story Behind PM Baked Goods
A West Sussex baker turns life's sweet moments into gifts delivered across the UK -- and her road back from an early disaster is the best thing on the menu.

There is a quiet genius to a cake in a jar. No slicing, no plates, no waiting for a birthday to justify a proper helping of cake -- just layers of sponge, cream and sauce, spooned straight from the glass. That simple idea is what PM Baked Goods has built its name on, and the West Sussex bakery now ships those jars fresh right across the UK.
Based in Chichester and trading as Enjoy Precious Moments Ltd, PM Baked Goods bakes to order in eight flavours -- chocolate, red velvet, vanilla, strawberry, lemon, coffee walnut, carrot, and a vanilla-and-cinnamon finished with salted caramel sauce. You can build your own box, which has quietly made the bakery a favourite for gifting and celebrations. "Everything Baked With Love" is the motto, and spend five minutes with the story behind it and you believe it.
Because behind the brand is a founder whose relationship with cake has been hard-won. Sixteen years ago she made her first three-tier cake. On the way to the venue, it collapsed. She was, in her own words, inconsolable -- not over the cake itself, but over the thought of letting a customer down on a day they could never get back. The setback cut so deep that she did not attempt another tiered cake for almost ten years.
But she never stopped learning. She took cake-decorating classes, then classes specifically on tiered-cake structure, support and stability, until the confidence came back. Today her cakes travel for up to twelve hours without a wobble -- and she still phones to check that every one has arrived safely, a habit she traces straight back to that first collapse. "The baker who stopped making tiered cakes for almost ten years is not stopping this time," she wrote recently. "We keep learning."
That spirit shows up away from the kitchen, too. PM Baked Goods turns up where people gather -- the Hampton Court Palace Food Festival, Ideas Fest at Champneys in Tring, local markets, and community celebrations such as MABIKO -- Celebrate Africa. It is a small business that behaves like a good neighbour.
The cakes are rated five stars and the kitchen is Food Standards Agency inspected, so the only hard part is choosing a flavour. You can build a box or send one as a gift at pmbakedgoods.co.uk, and follow the bakes -- and the occasional festival big-screen cameo -- on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
